Mariah Alyce is a native of Tuscaloosa, AL. She serves expecting families in her role as a Student Midwife (now offering student midwifery support for homebirths), DONA International trained Doula and breastfeeding advocate, and ALPP Certified Lactation Counselor.
Mariah Alyce’s passion for maternal wellness, women’s mental health, and women’s physical health have shaped her love for serving as a community Birthworker. In this role, she assists expecting families by offering comprehensive education, options counseling, and support in a caring, non-judgmental, factual manner, allowing clients to make informed decisions regarding their healthcare.
Mariah Alyce’s support provides community outreach and education, in person as well as virtually, to accelerate community awareness. This education includes but is not limited to evidence-based support for individual families, prioritizing individuals within marginalized communities that include BIPOC, the LGBTQ+ population, misplaced individuals, teenage mothers, disabled individuals, and communities in healthcare deserts, in efforts to end the many forms of systemic oppression.
Mariah Alyce has physically attended over 100 births, serving mothers in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. Mariah Alyce has successfully offered birth and lactation guidance virtually to families in Alabama, California, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
Mariah Alyce is currently working towards the completion of the required training to become a licensed Certified Professional Midwife. She is currently a Phase II student serving North and Central Alabama regions under preceptors and licensed supervision. Upon completion, her hope is to provide essential maternal care as a medical provider to expecting families in Alabama, prioritizing rural areas and communities that lack access to equitable care.
